REVIEW: Hemsley + Hemsley

I went to a fantastic restaurant this week in Selfridges on Oxford street whilst doing some Christmas shopping! I picked Hemsley + Hemsley because of their focus on sustainability.

They use:

  • responsibly sourced, preferably seasonal, and wild-caught fish

  • carefully sourced ingredients, supporting local producers (British producers) including seasonally and sustainably farmed fruit and veg

  • some of their profits to support The Real Junk Food Project London that diverts surplus food meant for the landfill

I had the Butternut squash and sweet potato soup with lemon zest and cumin with a quinoa, roasted vegetable and brazil nut basil pesto salad. I was excited to read that the quinoa in my salad had been sourced locally from Hodmedod's, an independent business selling home-grown quinoa supplied by a family-run farm in Essex. My mum ordered the salad again along with two other salads and the fish of the day, sea bass. We both highly recommend this restaurant as a way to eat a little more healthy and sustainably.
